FAQs
What kind of attire is Forest Formal, Summer Casual, and Aloha?
Forest Formal for the wedding and reception on Monday, means leave your tuxedo and ballgown at home! This is formal, but not black tie, please see the Pinterest board linked below for ideas. Suits, ties, and more formal jumpsuits or dresses are appropriate with footwear you are comfortable navigating mulch, grass, and cobblestone with. Our venue is literally in the forest, so have fun with your outfit! Get down with your bad-self! If you need more direction on this, check out this Pinterest board
Summer Casual is what you’d wear to a potluck BBQ on a warm day in the park; simple summer shift, jean shorts, t-shirts, tank tops, flip flops, and Birkenstocks. The Welcome In happy hour event on Saturday evening, will be outdoors on uneven terrain, with a mulch ground and picnic tables. You may want to pack a light jacket or puffy if you get chilly when the sun goes down. This is very informal!
Aloha attire is an expression as we say in Hawai’i, “Speak softly, and wear a loud shirt.” Collared Aloha shirts, khaki shorts or slacks, nice sundresses or rompers, and sandals are most welcome for our more formal ancillary events. Consider what you’d wear to a fancy brunch in the city or casual wedding in Hawai’i on the beach! This is festive or casual - check out the definition of festive-casual here (jeans / tank tops would be too informal)
Please note, it will be very chilly after 7pm in Graeagle! It’s looking to be 80°F during the day and 41°F during the evening - you will want to bring a jacket or shawl
What precautions are we taking for COVID-19?
Your healthy and safety are our first priority, with a close second being getting you up on the dance floor. We strongly recommend all of our guests carefully consider what this day means to us and ask that each of you recognize this is a foundational life moment; which we hope to be void of contention, debate, and viral activity. While we will not be asking for proof of vaccination, we will be requiring negative rapid tests regardless of vaccination status.
If you are arriving Thursday 6/23 - Saturday 6/25, we will be requiring two negative tests. If you are arriving on Sunday 6/26 or Monday 6/27, we will only require one negative test.
TEST 1
Email the@medoffs.com with your test results prior to your departure to California or Graeagle
For those traveling via plane, please do this within 24hrs of your flight to California
For those driving up locally, please do this within 24hrs of leaving your house
TEST 2
Email the@medoffs.com with your test results prior to Sunday 6/26 @12pm PT
For those who are driving up locally on Sunday, and have not taken a flight, you only need to test once on Sunday
For those who flew into California within the week, this will be the second test you take
If you are in the select group arriving on Monday (driving or flying), email the@medoffs.com with your test results on Monday no later than 8am PT, you will only need to test once on Monday.
Now that tests are readily available at local pharmacies, and free via covid.gov, please secure your own rapid tests to self-administer. We will have some tests onsite for those staying at Greenhorn Ranch and Twenty Mile House, in the event you forgot to BYO.
Even if you have had COVID in the last 1-6 months, you are still able to contract a new strain. Our recommendations for the next 3 weeks:
Wear a mask indoors (errands, grocery shopping, parties, dinners out, etc.)
Test yourself and ask others you intend on gathering with to test before gathering
Avoid large indoor gatherings, wear a mask if you must attend
Wash hands
Wear a mask on your flight traveling to California
Please email the@medoffs.com with your test results.
Hopefully this goes without saying - but if you test positive, while you will be missed, we ask that you stay home and feel well.
Our hope is that everyone respects this process, one another, and takes the necessary steps to ensuring everyone’s safety by getting vaccinated, social distancing, and potentially quarantining before our event.
Why is your wedding on a Monday?
When we began planning our wedding in February 2020, we booked our venue for Sunday, June 27, 2020. After several months of difficult conversations, but a surprising amount of forethought, we postponed to June 2022. However, our original date now fell on Tammuz. We then reworked our date around a global pandemic, wildfire season, medical residency programs, an obscure Jewish holiday, ideal weather forecasts, and a hyper competitive-weekend-wedding geography. We are so appreciative to those of you who have taken off work to celebrate this life milestone with us, and hope that you enjoy every moment of your time in California!
What’s with all the Hawaiian and Jewish stuff?
Fun fact, Rachel is Native Hawaiian (Kānaka Maoli). We wanted to thoughtfully integrate both Native Hawaiian, as well as Jewish traditions, into our wedding ceremony. If you are interested in learning more about some of the Native Hawaiian traditions you’ll see at our wedding, please check out this resource.
Are children invited?
Yes! Children are most welcome at all of our events. We will be providing two babysitters for June 27, 2022 during the Ceremony and Reception from 4:15-11pm. Our babysitters will also be required to provide negative tests the day of our event.
All children who are apart of the ceremony will walk first in the processional and then be escorted to the main house by the babysitters for light snacks and games until dinner; children 11+ years old may opt to stay for the ceremony. Familial children will be brought by babysitters after the ceremony to the family photo location.
All children and their parents will be served first via buffet at 6pm. Children under 3yrs will be provided high chairs, seated with their parents during dinner. Children 3yrs and older will be seated and chaperoned by babysitters at the Kids Table. Concluding their dinner, children will be chaperoned by babysitters at the Kids Tent (a large teepee with games, seating puffs, activities) or inside the Main House to watch a movie (probably, Frozen).
Babysitters will not be responsible for formal bedtimes, but will provide blankets/pillows in the event we have dozing-off onsite before parents wish to head home. Shuttles begin at 8pm for those interested in taking little ones back home early.
There will also be activities during our reception and games for slightly-older kids at heart.
What color are the bridesmaids wearing?
The bridesmaids will be wearing Dusty Blue, in a dress or jumpsuit style of their choice. If you’re like Rachel and like knowing as much as you can about what to wear or not to wear, feel free to check out Anthropologie (Dusty Blue color dresses) so you can plan around the bridesmaids dresses accordingly
What kind of food will you be serving? And what if I have a food allergy?
We have many different varieties of food preferences we are accommodating (Gluten/Grain free, Vegan, Vegetarian, Paleo, Allium allergy etc.) and opted for a buffet style reception dinner so that each of our guests could be as selective as they needed to be with what they are eating (and not leave hungry!). There will be a fish, vegetable, and red meat option at the reception dinner - however this is a pork free event (see above, Judaism). If you have a rare food allergy that needs accommodations not covered above, please reach out to us directly by emailing the@medoffs.com or texting both of us.
What will the weather be like?
We are looking into controlling the weather the weather forecast starting June 20th, 2022 and will update this section that week to provide as close an update as we possibly can on what to pack etc. As of January 2022 - June’s forecast in Graeagle is looking to be around 75-80 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and low 40s-50s Fahrenheit at night. You should also feel free to Google “Graeagle 10 Day Forecast June 2022” if you want to stay up to date! Please pack a jacket or shawl for the evenings as you will be quite cold!
What clothing should I pack?
This is a great question and really depends on if you plan on spending time in San Francisco and Greaagle, vs. Graeagle only.
San Francisco - It will be cold and foggy in San Francisco in June, but sometimes the fog burns off and it’ll get up to 60F - so you’ll want to pack layers (casual shirts, sweaters, jeans, nice leggings, khakis, and puffy jackets). San Francisco is also a very walkable city with lots to do, so cute sneakers are usually the best all around shoe. You will probably want a mix of cute, casual, walking around clothes (we aren’t a fancy city) and then 1-2 nice dinner outfits (slacks, button up, cute dress, sneakers).
Bottom line - if you’re going to San Francisco in June, don’t make the mistake of thinking “it’s summer” because you will be very cold. Highly recommend downloading the Mr. Chilly app to see the different temperatures in each of our micro-climates! It’s the most accurate way to see the temp in the city.
Graeagle - It will be hot and sunny in Graeagle in June during the day, however it will get quite cold at night. Graeagle is a mountain town, not fancy, and does not have any metropolitan activities. Flip flops, sandals, jeans/jean shorts, rompers, khaki shorts, tshirts, tank tops, sundresses, etc. will be most appropriate. You will also want to pack a jacket or shawl for the evening activities where the temparature drops into the 40s-50s. There are also some beautiful areas to walkabout, so we recommend packing good sneakers or hiking shoes and athletic-wear if you have it!
